Horizontal (orbital) packaging machines are designed for winding loads of non-standard dimensions. As a winding material such machines used narrow stretch film. Such equipment is demanded in cases when it is necessary to pack or protect specific goods and products during transportation. Among "complex loads" are: • textile rolls in factories; • metal-plastic profile; • windows and doors; • plastic and aluminum long constructions; • car wheel; • roofing felt and other roll materials for roof repair.
Manual packaging takes time and requires considerable operator effort (especially for non-standard products), and winding machines saves both time and material. Operator only regulate the speed of axis rotation and tension of the film. There are automatic and semi-automatic horizontal machines that pack coils of cable, tires and wheels, bundles of wires, etc. Automation does not require participation of operator who only starts and stops packaging process. Semi-automatic equipment performs functions under operator control, which can adjust rotation speed and tension of the film with pedals. Functionality affects the cost of equipment: automatic packaging machines that perform the full range of tasks are more expensive, but get regained quite quickly.
